In the worst-case scenario, evacuation may become necessary. You’ll need to have a pre-determined meeting location and evacuation plan. If you can leave, it should be done only when it’s safe to do so. Prioritize evacuation to areas that are far from the fallout zone.
- Know Your Routes: Be familiar with the locations of shelters, safe zones, and other critical infrastructure.
- Bug-Out Bag: Keep a ready-to-go bug-out bag with essentials (water, food, first aid, clothes, tools, etc.). This is important if you need to leave quickly or if your shelter becomes compromised.
